Meet Mary : The Gal Behind the Lens
From humble beginnings, Mary found herself in the midst of the sensual creation of the art that is boudior. Everyone starts somewhere with no real clue about where they might end up, Mary’s story is the same.
Since the middle of 2016, Mary has created a branch that grew from her passion in Miss Mary Photography that turned into a beautiful gift: boudoir. Even now, near the first half of 2017, Mary has impacted, photographed, and inspired numerous women and has every intention to help even more women find their most badass beautiful selves, but how well do you know your photographer?
We took some time to interview your photographer, Mary, so that we can all get to know her a bit better. Here’s part of her story. Don’t worry, we won’t share it all at once. Getting to know each other doesn’t happen in one day does it? Consider this our first date ;)
Let’s take a step back and learn more about how Miss Mary Photography morphed into the beautiful and empowering Miss Mary Boudoir.
TELL US ABOUT YOU AND WHY YOU LOVE BOUDOIR?
"Well, this is me - a spontaneous, fun, down-to-earth gal who is passionate about making women of all shapes and sizes feel absolutely gorgeous and confident in their skin. I'm a sucker for a good laugh, an ice cold beer, having fun, and just enjoying every bit of life.
I'm a photographer by day, a mommy and wifey by night but most importantly, I possess a super power (shhhh! our secret ;).
I have a hidden super power in that I empower women and make them feel like they can conquer the world. Through boudoir photography I help women see their strength, overcome their fear, and embrace their body no matter what shape or size they are.
I have always said that one day this will no longer be a man's world. That one day women will be treated as an equal to men and there is nothing I love more than seeing a woman chasing her dreams, a woman who doesn't put up with any bullshit or negativity and is determined to be successful in everything she does.
My passion for boudoir photography provides me with the feeling of satisfaction that I am helping a woman love herself in the midst of a cruel and judgmental world.”
HOW DID MMB START?
“Miss Mary Boudoir is another branch of Miss Mary Photography and was recently founded in 2016 when I was asked by a bride-to-be to do a boudoir shoot for her.”
WHAT TOOK YOU TO PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE FIRST PLACE?
“I have always been a believer in documenting and preserving the precious memories of the people we love. I would have to say that my love for photography started from a favorite hobby of mine - scrapbooking.
It all started 13 short years ago when I created my very first scrapbook when I was pregnant with my son, Isaiah. I had absolutely no scrapbooking experience and I had no idea that scrapbooking was even a "thing" back then. lol.
I simply knew that I wanted to remember this experience for the rest of my life and I hoped that one day that amateur scrapbook would be appreciated by my son. Little did I know that my son would treasure this scrapbook like nothing else in his 13 years of life. Some kids have their favorite blankie, some kids have their favorite teddy bear - my son had his favorite scrapbook.
This is when I truly realized that photographs were much more magical and priceless. This experience with photography was a true eye-opener and what started out as a hobby grew into an all-out love affair.
Fast forward to 13 years later and here I am trusted to capture some of the most special memories for my clients and the beauty of the many woman I have had the honor of photographing.”
WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION?
I am inspired by many different elements in life - music, movies, clothing, magazines, books and much more. Other elite photographers around the country who started from nothing inspire me everyday. But above all, I would say that mostly my clients inspire me.
Every woman who is in front of my lens has a different story. Some stories are the happy kind and some are not. A bad breakup, a horrible divorce, overcoming domestic violence. I would say some are even my heroes for all that they have endured and overcome and their stories inspire me to be the best I can be every single day.
Mary has been fully dedicated to photographing beautiful women and is determined to continue to build a world that is inspirational, motivational, and beautiful by giving these women the confidence they deserve.
